What is Ivermectin 40mg Used For?

This high-strength dose may be prescribed in special cases such as:

• Severe scabies (especially crusted scabies)
• Strongyloidiasis (intestinal parasite)
• Onchocerciasis (river blindness)
• Lymphatic filariasis
• Head lice (if resistant to topical treatment)
• Off-label use in viral infections (e.g., COVID-19) – only under professional guidance

How It Works

Ivermectin interferes with the parasite’s nervous system, causing paralysis and death. It allows the body to eliminate the infection effectively.

Dosage Guidelines

• The standard Ivermectin dose is 200 micrograms per kg of body weight.
• A 40mg tablet may be appropriate for individuals over 100–120 kg or for multiple-dose regimens (e.g., crusted scabies).
• Usually taken once and sometimes repeated after 7–14 days depending on condition.
